June 7 Worship @ Home Resources

Trinity Sunday
"Witnesses of the Power of God"

Picture
Today is Trinity Sunday, the day reminding us that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; Three persons in one being.
God has revealed Himself as our Creator, Redeemer, and Comforter who is with us now and forever.

We will be resuming in-person worship gatherings next Sunday (June 14). There are 2 ways for you to join in worship.

1. In-person: Join us in person at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. on June 14. We ask that you make a reservation so we know how many to expect (we are required to be less than 30 in a gathering). Call the church office (306)628-4320 or fill out this form (click here) to reserve your spot.

2. At Home: We will Livestream our worship gatherings and provide a bulletin for you to follow along with at home.

Thank you for your patience and prayers during this time!

Gathering

Prepare for Worship
As you prepare for this time of worship find a time and space that will allow you to focus on God. (I encourage you to find an hour that can be devoted to uninterrupted worship.)

Perhaps, you could light a candle to mark this as a sacred time.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Worship in Song
Sing Together:

And we are the people of His pasture
And the sheep of His hand
Just the sheep of His hand

Confession of Sin & Reminder of our Forgiveness
Confess responsively:
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid:
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirt,
that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Silence for Reflection and Self-Examination

Most Merciful God,
I confess that I am in bondage to sin and cannot free myself. I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done and by what I have left undone. I have not loved You with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbours as myself. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me. Forgive me, renew me, and lead me, so that I may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your Holy Name. Amen.

In His mercy, Almighty God has given His Son Jesus to die for our sins and for His sake forgives us each day. He has given us the Holy Spirit to strengthen and encourage us as we walk in the hope of His life.

Worship in Song
Sing together:
Holy, Holy, Holy (LBW 165)
  1. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

  2. Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
    Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

  3. Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye made blind by sin thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
Perfect in pow'r, in love and purity.

  4. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

A NEW VERSE FOR A NEW MONTH!
"Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:38

Confession of Faith
Confess aloud:

(As today is Trinity Sunday, be listening as we speak the Apostles' Creed for the ways that God is revealed and works as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Worship in Song
Sing Together: The Steadfast Love of the Lord & Ever Faithful
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.
His mercies never come to an end!
They are new every morning, new every morning.
Great is Thy Faithfulness, O Lord, Great is thy Faithfulness.

Yesterday and today and forever You're the same.
Ever constant, never changing is Your grace.

Yesterday and today, ever faithful is Your name,
I'll lay down my life, O Lord, as a gift of praise.

Ever faithful, ever faithful is Your steadfast love for me.
I will love You, O my Jesus, forever faithfully.

Ever faithful, ever faithful is Your steadfast love for me.
I will love You, O my Jesus, forever faithfully.

They are new every morning, new every morning.
Great is Thy Faithfulness, O Lord, Great is thy Faithfulness.

Word

Scripture Reading from John 16:12-15

Read aloud carefully and attentively
12  [Jesus told his disciples] "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Scripture Reading from Acts 2:22-41

Read aloud carefully and attentively.
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know-- 23 this Jesus,[a] delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. 25 For David says concerning him,
“‘I saw the Lord always before me,
    for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;
26 therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;
my flesh also will dwell in hope.
27 For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,
or let your Holy One see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’
29 “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
35     until I make your enemies your footstool.”’
36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

Take a moment to take stock of your life.
Perhaps you could make a list of the things you are thankful for, the things that are important to you, and those things that God may be calling you to let go of.

Worship in Song:

Sing together: Days of Elijah
These are the days of Elijah, declaring the word of the Lord.
And these are the days of Your servant Moses, righteousness being restored.
And though these are days of great trial, of famine and darkness and sword,
Still, we are the voice in the desert crying, "Prepare ye the way of the Lord!"

Behold He comes riding on the clouds,
Shining like the sun at the trumpet call,
Lift your voice, it's the year of jubilee, a
nd out of Zion's hill salvation comes.

These are the days of Ezekiel, the dry bones becoming as flesh,
And these are the days of Your servant David, rebuilding a temple of praise.
These are the days of the harvest, the fields are as white in Your world,
And we are the labourers in Your vineyard, declaring the word of the Lord!

Behold He comes riding on the clouds, Shining like the sun at the trumpet call,
Lift your voice, it's the year of jubilee, a
nd out of Zion's hill salvation comes.
